The Late Garda Gary Mc Louglin

The Minister for Justice and the Garda Commissioner have expressed their sadness at the death of a garda from injuries he sustained in a collision in Co Donegal yesterday.

24-year-old Garda Gary McLoughlin died in hospital early this morning following a collision at Lisfannon in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Two garda detectives saw a car drive off at high speed at a filling station near Buncrana in northeast Donegal at around 1.30am.

He pulled his patrol car onto the side of the road, beside a ditch to avoid an Opel Astra coming at him at speed.

The Astra went out of control and crashed into the driver’s side, where Garda McLoughlin was sitting.

Google Phone Update – Launch On Jan 5th 2010?

Breaking: Just read that the Google phone (aka Nexus One) could be scheduled for a launch on the 5th of January 2010.

If this is true then this closely coincides with the 2010 CES show in Las Vegas in the same week, this sounds likely, but with all the rumors flying around about the new device it’s really hard to know what to believe at the minute. Will keep the blog updated with anything new in relation to this.

Word is that Google may be selling the phone contract free (SIM FREE) through their own website and offering a subsidised version also through T-Mobile in the US initially.

Crosses in the sky above shrine?

A GROUP of 14 people claim to have seen crosses in the sky and a statue of Our Lady move at the shrine in Kerrytown near Burtonport on Tuesday evening.

The group of locals went to the site where Our Lady is said to have appeared inn 1939, in response to a prediction made by Dublin man Joe Coleman.

Speaking to the Donegal News Mr Coleman said he was “instructed” by Our Lady when he visited Medugorje in April, to notify people that she would appear at the Kerrytown site on Tuesday, 29 September.

“Unfortunately I was unwell and wasn’t able to go to Donegal. When I was in Donegal recently I handed out leaflets in Dungloe to let people know that Our Lady was going to appear at the shrine in Kerrytown.

“She said to me ‘My child, I am going to appear in Kerrytown on Tuesday, 29 September, 2009′, Our Lady asked me to tell the priests of the church. She is calling for people to get back to praying the Rosary,” Mr Coleman said.

A number of those present on Tuesday night claim they saw crosses in the sky above the rock. Others are saying they saw the statue of Our Lady become life-like and turn in their direction.

” I haven’t been able to speak to any of them yet,” Mr Coleman said.

The story was taken up yesterday on Highland Radio’s Shaun Doherty show which was contacted by several callers who claimed to have been present on Tuesday and witnessed first hand the crosses appearing in the sky and the statue turning life-like.
